The December Port Townsend Community Dance will take place on Saturday, December 20th at the Quimper Grange. The Grange is located in Port Townsend’s Dundee Hill neighborhood at 1219 Corona Street. Doors open at 7:15 with dancing from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm.

Hailing from Seattle and Port Townsend, Four Dollar Shoe will be serving up rollicking good dance tunes (Kate Lichtenstein, Morgan John, Tom Collicot, and Susan Rosenbaum). 

Alex MacLeod is a dance caller and musician from Seattle who calls, performs, and instructs across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Over the last 12 years Alex has developed his calling style while calling for all kinds of dances – from festivals to farms, weddings to bat mitzvahs, in barns, on boats, in fields and in grange halls, in churches and bars and and schools. He has been influenced by community dance calling greats like Bill Martin, Susan Michaels, and Phil Jamison. His dances are always full of laughter and learning, with practical instruction that engages novice and experienced dancers alike. Alex also plays old time fiddle music, often for square dances, and plays drums in the Seattle country band Paradise Drifters.

The Port Townsend Community Dance is inspired by traditional kitchen and barn dances and features a mixture of traditional sets, always danced to live music along with a dance caller. All experience levels are welcome; all dances are taught! Come alone, with a friend, with a partner, with the family – or with the whole village! Admission is $10 per person/$20 per family; however, no one will be turned away at the door. Please bring your own personal water bottle and consider arriving on foot or by bicycle if possible!  Dancing starts promptly at 7:30!
